Lukla in the Stawamus Canyon
During one of the Junuary rain events this summer, Lukla and I wandered up the Stawamus Canyon to see what the flow in the river was like. She loves to swim and chase her ball in the deeper pools of the river.
Summer Roadtrip
I'm a bad boy. I had to snap this shot as I drove through some torrential rain coming out of Lillooet heading for Kamloops. The evening light was eerie with heavy thunder clouds over head and the late evening sun just shining through directly ahead of me. shortly after this I saw bears bounding through fields of really tall grass, ocassionally popping up on hind legs to see what was happening around them. It all happened too quickly and I could stop and get my telephoto in time.
Ashcroft Sunrise
I spent the night in my car with the rain pouring down for much of the night. in the morning, the clearing clouds made for a really nice dawn. I stopped at this viewpoint just near where I'd spent the evening.
Common Loons
OK so technically this is not a cellphone shot obviously. But I did zing it over to my phone to share with a friend. I was buzzing after suddenly discovering about a dozen Loons close by the edge of a lake, right by a roadway. Normally I'd have to work much harder to get this close for a shot.
Marmot Massacre
I was eating dinner and enjoying a beer after a solid day of riding at Sun Peaks Bike Park. I noticed a Raven land and begin picking at something in the grass. Through my telephoto lens (OK I'm cheating again) I could see it had found a dead Marmot. sadly it appears as though someone had somehow hit it with a golf ball at the driving range which is situated at the base of the mountain right by the village. Sad, and a strange choice of activity for the location. There were Marmot dens all across the lower mountain.
Lakeside Fireweed
Nice pullout spot beside Duffy Lake on the way home from the interior. Great place to stop for a drink and a snack and soak up the warm summer sun.
Fall is coming
The evening sun begins to dip behind the mountains earlier and earlier as the summer winds down. This trees root system took hold over an old stump which has now almost completely rotted away, leaving a cavern underneath the tree, allowing the sun's to shine through gaps between the roots.
Late Autumn
not usually this nice in late November. Primo riding, it's such a bonus to be out in this. I'm so grateful to live, work and ride right here in this spectacular place
5x optical zoom
From ultra wide to telephoto, not bad at all for in your pocket
Wide shot to appreciate the trees
a lone juvenile eagle watches me fiddle with a new camera
Walking the dog at sunrise
The sunrise colours reflected in the water and bathed the forest in a soothing purplish hue. nice to be out at the right time, don't often get to chase the sun these days.
