Late summer salmon runs bring bears to the rivers. I watched it fish casually for salmon brains in a secluded section of the river full of fish in shallow streams.

I stopped and grabbed my binoculars to check out what I thought was a bear. Sure enough this young Grizzly was roaming the rivers edge searching for a snack.

Cell phone record shot. Although this print was likely a couple of days old at least, I had been told by someone earlier that the old boy had been seen in here earlier on this day. Noticing this and a few other prints in the snow going opposite directions brought to my attention that I was likely on a popular thoroughfare and it might be best if I was moving about in more open space. Mission aborted...
